Bakers Arms

The
Baker Arms was
situated at 44 Warner
Place. |
|
In the late 1960s/early
1970s three houses in Victoria Park Road (possibly nos 65-69) were converted
for accommodation for students at Sir John Cass College. I lived there in
1968-9. The Baker’s Arms was our regular evening haunt. I was banned from
going there as I only ever bought half a pint of bitter to last the whole
evening (after studying of course!). It remains one of the few pubs in
London that I ever went to where the locals were so friendly.
At the time, rumour had it that the Kray twins frequented the pub in their
day. |
