The Duke Of Wellington was situated at
29 Three
Colts Lane. This pub was established by 1813, and
in these early days was also referred to sometimes as the Lord
Wellington. It survived as a pub until at least 1927 when it was offered
for sale, but it is now
long-closed, for many years serving as offices for the adjacent works. The
pub had been tied to the long-forgotten City of London Brewery and had a
splendid advertisement for that brewery’s Entire on the parapet on the side
wall – probably the best surviving City of London Brewery signage anywhere.
That is until 2010, when the former pub was demolished.
