Durham Arms

The Durham Arms was situated at 408 Hackney Road. This pub features in an Old Bailey case of 1814, where a pig had been stolen from the pub’s sty in the yard at the rear.  It was a Truman’s Brewery house and features lots of old Truman’s signage on its upper floors.  In the late-2000s the pub deteriorated into very poor condition – I visited once to find they had no beer, and seemingly no electricity.  Unsurprisingly the pub closed, in around 2008 or 2009.
