The Five Bells was
situated at 535 Old Ford Road. Originally called The Old Five Bells. Pubs called the Five Bells can often be found
in docks areas. The name derives from the fact that ships kept time by a
series of eight bells keeping time over a four hour cycle. Five bells was
2:30pm which was often closing time for the lunchtime session before all day
opening. |
