The Milestone was situated at 588 Mile End Road.
This pub was present by 1891,
probably under the name Cornucopia.
In the 1940s it was tied to the Taylor Walker Brewery of Limehouse. By 1974
it had been rebuilt as part of the development of the adjoining Eric
Estate. By 1983 it was called the Horn
of Plenty, later spending a time as the Flautist
& Firkin, one of the lesser lights in the Firkin chain. Names came and went
in the final years, including for a brief time A
Matter of Time. In 2007 it was renamed Virtue and
in 2008 Milestone.
In 2010 it closed and was converted to restaurant use. |
|
Since c2017 it has returned to being a
pub called The Rusty Bike. Poplar with sports fans due to a number of large
screens and also busy with Thai food in out or delivery
