Seven Stars

Source: Nigel Cox

The Seven Stars was situated at 94 Bromley High Street and has now been converted to flats.
This ancient pub was probably established as the Seven Stars by 1606, when King John I had a palace in the vicinity.  In 1822 it was at the heart of Bromley village and was tied to the nearby Hodgson’s Brewery of Bow.  Despite being described as a highly significant, historic building, the pub was in 1895 demolished and rebuilt on a larger scale more suited to this now highly urban area.  By 1983, the name had changed to the Pearly King and this pub featured on the cover of the first CAMRA Guide to the pubs of east London.  The pub closed c1988 and has been converted to residential use.
