I was in a band called Stone Free, changed to
Evil Ways and changed again to Urchin.
The original band Stone Free was made up of myself - John Hoye bass, Adrian
Smith guitar and vocals and Dave Murray guitar. We used to rehears in my
school hall, Cardinal Pole which was on Kenworthy Road E9. Adrian and Dave
went on to be in Iron Maiden and still are today.
When we were called Evil Ways we had a residency at The Earl Amhurst every
Friday night for many, many months, the place became very, very popular. The
band then consisted of - John Hoye on Bass, Adrian Smith guitar and vocals,
Maurice Coyne guitar, Barry Tyler drums, Dave Hall vocals. |

My dad used to drink in this pub he
was an Irish man called Billy brown, long shot I know of anyone
remembering him or even having old photos back then, but any memories
let me know, he would of been 40-45 years old then, he's dead now sadly,
he also used to drink with a geoff scanlon aka a david perkins all about
the same age |
