We lived at 404 Queensbridge Road from 1959 - 1970 when our house was compulsory purchased by the local council.  London Borough of Hackney.
The Prince Albert was almost opposite our house on the Forest Road corner on the other side.  I had my only childhood dog from this pub - Angie.  She lived for 17 years and when we went on our annual holiday she was looked after by the Landlord/lady.  I don’t remember their name(s).  Angie always came back fatter because she didn’t have all the walks that I had with her normally!
We were not a family that frequented pubs and so I only went into the small bar that is on the Forest Road side.
On a Friday/Saturday evening an old woman would leave the pub.  The worst for wear with drink.  She would stand in the road and I was frightened of her - goodness knows why, she never spoke to us!!
Later, as a teenager, if I ever had to meet a new boyfriend, I would always arrange to meet by the pub signpost.  I was within site of my home and it was a public place - so everyone would see who he was.  We were warned about strangers all this years ago too!
I can’t honestly remember it as a rowdy pub.  A proper “local”.  Just beer - no food.  Perhaps I would get a packet of Smith’s crisps if my Mum did not want to go to the grocers!  And sometimes I was allowed to go in and buy them - but I had to be swift.  They frowned on me going in during opening hours!
