Chesham Arms

The Chesham Arms was situated at 15 Mehetabel Road. This pub closed c2012.
The pub closed in October 2012 when sold to a developer - Mukund Patel. The media was told that the pub would be converted to flats but no planning application has come forward. The local community, CAMRA, previous regulars and Hackney Council have fought back and the pub is now listed as an Asset of Community Value - the first one in Hackney. The developer has lost two appeals against the listing and is now the subject of a second planning enforcement action against his unauthorised conversion to residential on the first floor. The local community desperately miss the pub and are keeping an eye on Patel's every move. He is fast running out of options and we have hopes the pub will reopen again soon.
