The Green Man & Still was situated at 161 Whitecross
Street. |
|
This was a Courage pub which became a free house called McLoughlins in the
1990s. It is now a coffee shop called Fix. |

My great-uncle, Frank Appleby, was working in this pub as a waiter at the
time of the 1911 census. The census record covers two pages and Frank
appears on the page relating to 159 Whitecross Street, though he worked for
the pub at 161. Interesting that both properties are still in the
food/drink business. |
