The Red Lion was situated at 42 Northampton Road. This pub was present as the Red Lion by 1832.  It was a Whitbread house that went through many name changes in its latter years.  The name changed to Thomas Wethered in around 1987-88.  Has since been Leonards Bar,  Clerk & Well, Oriental Spice and CircleČ.  It was closed by May 2009 and in early 2010 reopened as a restaurant.

The restaurant has, in turn, closed as of 30th October 2012.
