Kings Arms
|
|
|
The Kings Arms was situated at 52 Beech
Street, on the corner of Golden Lane. It is now an underpass which
runs under the Barbican complex. This area of London was flattened by the
WW2 bombing. A few landlords were ; 1867 Henry Dickins; 1872 Frederick
Collingwood. In 1893/1895 Frederick Cakebread was the landlord. In 1893,
living at the pub and working as a barmaid was one Jane Maria Ferry, aged
36. Her son William aged 19, was also living at the pub and working as a
printer. Jane Ferry had firstly lost her eldest son and then her husband so
the pub gave her and her son a roof and a wage. She committed suicide in
1893, by throwing herself off London Bridge |
