The Mitre

The Mitre was situated at 89-91 High Road. This pub was known as The Golden Stool prior to closure in 2006.

My memories of this pub were that my fishing club met there every month for their meeting. It was the first pub I had an alcoholic drink with my Dad, I was 18 ish. The fishing club was High Cross Angling Society (HCAS) and the meetings took place in a large room at the back. Remember drinking the Brown Ale there. Seems the fishing club was disbanded as cannot find any record.
