The Mitre was situated at 89-91 High Road.
This pub was known as
The Golden Stool prior to closure in 2006. |

My memories of this pub were that my
fishing club met there every month for their meeting. It was the first pub I
had an alcoholic drink with my Dad, I was 18 ish. The fishing club was High
Cross Angling Society (HCAS) and the meetings took place in a large room at
the back. Remember drinking the Brown Ale there. Seems the fishing club was
disbanded as cannot find any record. |
