The Silver Lady was situated at 384 West Green
Road. This pub was previously known as The Fox and is now used as a community centre. |
|
I lived nearby from 1996 - 2000 and remember our
staunchly Catholic neighbour telling us her church, which was next door, was
campaigning to get the place closed down. By then the Silver Lady was
a club which offered 'gentlemen's entertainment and, according to her, the
noise of the goings on next door was audible in the church during religious
services, despite the church's car park being between the two venues. Either
way there was no love lost and the church eventually got it's way when the
Silver Lady shut down. I think they bought it up and used the venue as a
church hall/community centre. |
