The British Queen was situated at 62
Basire Street. The pub was bomb damaged in 1940 but closed on 17/10/1940 due
to bad trade. Re-opened on 9/2/1943 as a lock-up but was again badly bomb
damaged [possibly by the V1 noted as landing in the area] and closed for
good on 3/8/1944. The whole area was later cleared and in the 1960’s was
redeveloped. |
