The Clothworkers Arms was situated at 52
Arlington Avenue. This pub is now in residential use. |

I am so sad to read that the Clothworkers Arms
is now closed. My late, Cockney, husband lived directly across the street
from the 'Arms, and I know he would be turning over in his grave if he knew
this.
Ah, a real pint of Guinness! A real pint=20 oz., not like it is here in the
US=16 oz! I can remember many an evening spent at the 'Arms, a Guinness in
hand.
I find it saddening that so many buildings in England are being handled in a
similar fashion to those here in the US - i.e., if it's from a previous
generation then pull the darn thing down. However, such buildings have
history, and without history there can not really be a future. Future is
built on history. Take care and look after that which 'we' built. |
