The George IV was situated at 60 Copenhagen Street. It was known as Whelans at the time of closure, c2009-2010. Demolished in July 2014.

In 1984 it was bought by Blackburn brewer, Thwaites, and rebranded as a Lancashire pub. Decorations included cotton shuttles and more than 100 old photographs of towns such as Preston, Blackburn and Burnley. The brewery's cask ale was sent down every week by dray.
