The Alexandra was situated at 98 Fortis Green.
This was originally two separate
dwellings which were in existence by 1864. By 1926 the buildings on
the site were formally known as The Alexandra Beer House and
appear to be combined, on the ground floor at least. It appears that the
road was widened at this time and part of the frontage of the property was
requisitioned for that purpose. This was probably the reason for the
construction of a new single-storey pub frontage and corner lobby entrances
and a substantial reconstruction of the other parts of the building. It
closed in 2014. |
