My husband and I went to this huge great pub on our first date in October
1973. It was a jazz pub then with a terrific atmosphere. The night we were
there the actor Ian Hendry (one of those great character actors – remember
Get Carter) was in the audience really enjoying himself. Apparently he was
a regular visitor who enjoyed the jazz along with many other colourful
characters. The food was great too, but then of course this was a very long
time ago. |

For Willy,Alan,Dave and myself -this was our 'local'. We
would be that group crowded in the little alcove to the right as you
tried to get in. I remember with fondness the barmaids especially
Louise. A Harvester - what a travesty. this building had character for
goodness sake, reinforced by the memories of many previous satisfied
customers - of which I count myself one. |
