Load Of Hay

The Load Of Hay was situated at 9 Brent Street. This
pub closed in 2004 and has now been demolished. |

This was my ''local'' in 1977 as an Aussie
living and working in Hendon. The hotel was owned by a husband and wife
couple, her name was Frida. Lovely people who ran a magnificent pub.
The old world furniture was just so charming. The pub ''ouzed'' with
atmosphere, particularly on a Friday night. The building was a magnificent
Tudor style decor. I can't believe permission was granted to demolish such a
building. But apparently that's progress. The site is now an ugly
apartments/flat complex. |
