Load Of Hay

The Load Of Hay was situated at 9 Brent Street. This pub closed in 2004 and has now been demolished.

This was my ''local'' in 1977 as an Aussie living and working in Hendon. The hotel was owned by a husband and wife couple, her name was Frida. Lovely people who ran a magnificent pub. The old world furniture was just so charming. The pub ''ouzed'' with atmosphere, particularly on a Friday night. The building was a magnificent Tudor style decor. I can't believe permission was granted to demolish such a building. But apparently that's progress. The site is now an ugly apartments/flat complex.
