Duke Of Cambridge

The Duke Of Cambridge was situated at 64 Lawford Road and has now been converted to flats.
The Duke of Cambridge in Kentish Town used to be a pub theatre, with a pretty well-respected theatre upstairs. I did a production of Anouilh's "Antigone" there, but the couple who ran it - a director and his actress girlfriend - turned out to be rather volatile and creepy. He started stalking one of the other actresses (he'd cast his girlfriend in the lead but put this other actress, who had a minor role, on the poster. She then woke up one morning to find he'd talked his way into her flat and was sitting in her bedroom watching her sleep). The girlfriend confronted him, claimed he'd beaten her, took out a restraining order on him....man, it was messy. Still, great space, not a bad pub (I'm not a fan of pubs I'll admit) and it was a shame to see it go.
