The Carlton Tavern was situated at 33 Carlton Vale. This pub closed in 2015.  It featured superb Charrington's tilework; later owned by Courage. The pub closed and was demolished on 7th April 2015 without warning or permission, two days before the building was due to be given a grade-II listed status recommendation by English Heritage.

Reopened in 2021 after developers were ordered to rebuild the pub brick by brick.
