My great grandfather, William George Pardew Stanbury, used to manage this pub. He was apparently a terrible womaniser, and his first wife, Nellie Cox, cited his many affairs and itinerant lifestyle, including stints away from home when he stayed at the Prince Alfred, as she filed for divorce in 1898.
