My grandfather,Henry Lewis Plowman was
the last licensee of the old Three Crowns.Having served previously in the
colours as a young man he was re-enlisted at the outbreak of WW1 into
5thScottish Rifles (The Cameronians).He survived most of the bloodiest
battles in France and Belgium but was wounded in May 1918 and sadly died.
The pub, I gather, never reopened and was finally demolished in the 1930s |
