Duke Of Cambridge

The Duke Of Cambridge was situated at 7
Holmesdale Road. This pub was demolished in 2016 with flats built on the
site. |
I knew the landlord who is, like me, a
big Crystal Palace football fan. On the plain wall under the gables was a
big Palace club crest with the wording Palace and Proud. The pubs claim to
fame was that it featured on the local news once after an evening match with
Brighton. On police advice the pub was closed before the match, but
Crescent Arms opposite stayed open and Brighton
fans threw chairs from the Crescent through the window of the Duke of
Cambridge. |
