We lived in St Norbert Rd Brockley in the 1940s and 50s. My father’s ‘local’ was the Maypole. He died in 1953 aged 49 but he could be in the ‘outing’ photograph....end of top right -hand row. Very like him. Our neighbour, Mr Garvey, was also a regular and sometimes could be seen, in his slippers, jug in hand, going to the Maypole just before his Sunday roast! The Station and old footbridge seem far more attractive in my memory than the modern replacements. All those steps!
