The Telegraph was situated at 228 Brixton Hill.
This was a late Victorian pub built in 1896, replacing an
earlier building of the same name. The architect
was one W M Brutton, and was built for William Grimes, who was a prominent
pub and music hall owner of the time. In its heyday the Telegraph was
clearly an impressive pub, with the Saloon lounge being a lofty room, with
velvet curtains, chandeliers and richly upholstered furnishings. The
building has now been converted to residential use following closure in the
2000s. |

II'd love to read some information about the reggae and roots nights that
were held there in the seventies. |
