The Swag & Tails was situated at 10-11 Fairholt
Street.
It was previously
known as The Prince Of Wales.
A friend of mine knew this pub in the 1950s, and said that it
was a friendly backstreet pub, whose landlord went to great efforts to
decorate it for Christmas. My only visit was in 2009, and my impression was
that it gone down the gastro-pub route, and was very much food led.
Reportedly bought by Tamara Ecclestone (daughter of F1 supremo Bernie) with
a view to either rebuilding or expanding the premises considerably and turn
it into a late night venue. This went down like a lead balloon with
residents, and its future is now uncertain. This pub closed in 2009. |

Fabian, Ruth Ellis and Buster Crabbe |

When working in London (Knightsbridge)
in the early 1980s I vaguely visiting this pub a few times but the one thing
I remember is that the landlord was the brother of Sid James, the actor. |
