The Hoop was situated at 83 Notting Hill Gate.
This pub is now used as a restaurant. |
|
The Hoop is mentioned in a reprint of Nairn's
London (first published 1966). Nairn describes it back then as "the best
modern pub interior in London" and lists Roger Radford (1960) as responsible
for it. So, allowing for writing, editing and publishing Nairn's book, the
pub was still around into the mid 60s. |

As a young Australian in London 1972/1973 I
remember this pub well. It was well patronized at that time by many of us
from down under. My best friend and I arrived in Southampton early 1972 by a
Greek ship, The Ellinis, that was full of young Australians. We had regular
reunions at this pub and met many more Australians. Great times! |
