Kings Head

The Kings Head was situated at 48 Gerrard Street. This pub is now used as a Chinese restaurant.

I don't recall ever drinking upstairs, the basement was where it was at. Used to go often after work on a Friday and there would always be this big bloke sat down playing vinyl, good solid pop selections. This was up there along with Bradley's Spanish Wine Bar as the primo after work spots for chatting shit and listening to music. Closed around the mid 2000s.
I heard that this was a fashionable hang out in the 80s and the place the Pet Shop Boys referenced on West End Girls when they sang about 'a dive bar, in a west end town' which appears to be true. https://www.petshopboys.co.uk/news/2004-02-09/closing-time-for-the-dive-bar
