    | The Red Lion was situated at 1 Waverton
Street, closing in 2006. This pub has been converted into a £25m
five-bedroom house, including a cinema, underground swimming pool and eight
    bathrooms. |

    | In the Sixties, it was a favourite haunt of those working for the offshore
radio stations. In 1966, the offices of Radios London, England and Britain
Radio (all in Curzon Street) and Caroline (Chesterfield Gardens) were all
just around the corner and the guys, who at the time were regarded with pop
star status, spent a lot of time (and money) in the Red Lion. |

    | My mother worked there from 1945 to
1958 when Mr Horne was the proprietor. The pub was noted for all the famous
UK and USA movie stars that visited the pub. My mother kept a autograph book
with their autographs during 1946 and 1950 which I still have and treasure.
I personally spent an afternoon in the kitchen chatting to Errol Flynn after
the pub had closed for the afternoon when I was 14 years old. I am now an 85
year old retired architect living in California USA. |

    | My mother also worked there in the late
1950s when Mr Horne was there. I have a visitors book with a few actors
signatures and a couple of photos. |
