The Bolton Hotel was situated at 81 Duke Road.
This pub closed in 1995 and has now been converted to residential use. |

I worked in the Bolton behind the bar
from 1987 to mid 1988. The pub was Bing run by a couple from the Black
Country called Frank and Flo, ably assisted by the long standing barman
Peter, and myself in the evenings when I git home from university. The pub
was mainly used by the locals, we even had a disco once a month; the dj
being one of the locals, Barny. Nothing much happened while I was there but
Flo told me that the rooms above the pub were often used for rehearsals for
various BBC comedies, the last one being "Dear John". |
