The Magpie & Stump was situated at 124 High Street. This beerhouse opened in 1737 when the publican was Thomas Currier and is was known as The Magpie & Plough. It was then called The Magpie before being renamed The Magpie & Stump in 1790. It closed in 1904 following referral to the Compensation Authority.
