The Watermans Arms was situated at 179 High Street. This pub was present by 1840 when it was called The Alton Arms. It was renamed The Watermans Arms c1870, when the publican was also employed as a waterman. The pub was closed in 1907 by the Compensation Authority, awarding a total of £856 compensation.
