The Black Horse was situated on Hertford Road. This pub was demolished on January 24th 2017.

I stayed there in the rooms above the bar for 6 months in 2012. Terrible beer (what do you expect in a place like Enfield?) but the pub had some really good points.
The Turkish family running it were very warm, the barstaff and punters were like a cross section of the UN. A couple of the staff were exceptional, a young lady named "Q" in particular was great.
The standards of the building were atrocious - my room had bars on the window and the fire door was often locked, the electrical system was prosecution material. That's Enterprise for you though, no interest in spend on customers.  I got a few pints gratis from Ishal after gently removing some Irish Travellers who wanted more beer, didn't want to pay, and were threatening violence. I calmed down the landlord another time when he was throwing glasses at customers.
All in all an interesting place. I liked it a lot and have good memories.
