The Dukes Head was situated on the High Street. This pub closed in 2012. The various landlords could not afford the rent demanded by the pub company which still owns it. On top of that they were having to buy beer from the company at inflated prices per barrel. As a result the place became gradually more tatty and the customers became fewer as a result.
