The Goat was situated at 250 High
Street. A locally-listed building, with the current mock-Tudor structure
dating to around 1930. According to Enfield Council’s local heritage list,
the earliest known reference to The Goat was in 1778. |

A planning application for change of use to a
restaurant has been submitted for the Goat in Ponders End, the last
remaining pub in the area and a locally listed building. A change to Use
Class E from Sui Generis (drinking establishment) would leave the pub
vulnerable to eventual redevelopment. CAMRA’s Enfield & Barnet branch has
strongly objected to the application, principally on the basis that the pub
has not been properly marketed in line with the London Plan. |
