The Royal Oak was situated at 18 Oak Street. This grade-II listed
pub was present by 1789. At various times the pub was known as The Oak. It
closed in December 1975. |

C18. Former Royal Oak Inn. Flint
with late C19 painted brick front. Rendered south end, flint exposed north
end. Steep pantile roof with coped gable ends. One storey and attic. Ground
floor two 3-light sashes in segmental headed openings. Central doorway with
simple pediment on shaped brackets, glazed door and 3 steps. Two flat-roofed
dormers with casements. End chimney stacks. C19 wing at rear. |
