The Links Hotel was situated on Marine Parade.
The pub was designed by Arthur 'Billy' Ecclestone who was the architect of a
number of Art Deco style pubs built by Lacon's Brewery. Completed by
1939,but because of WW2 it didn't open until 1952. Demolished in 1999 with
houses being built on the site. |

I was 18 and would go into the young
bar along with my pals, and look through to the lounge full of old folk.
Having moved away I retuned for a visit and immediately went into the
lounge, I looked into the bar and felt so out of place a huge generation gap
it was an alien landscape and I scurred back to the lounge. The lounge was
at 18 an anathema to me Ohh the years and now it is gone. |
