The Bure Hotel was situated on Caister Road. This pub closed c1986 and has now been demolished and replaced by housing.

In the early 1970s my mum worked as a barmaid at the Bure Hotel. The landlord was 'Uncle Arthur' (Arthur Pinnell, landlord from 07.09.1972 to 22.02.1977). He had a beautiful red-setter dog. Lots of people from the airfield would come in and it was popular with the American's who came to Yarmouth to work in the gas and oil industry (the pub had a pool table that was very popular with the Americans). Colin Fenn (from Anglia Television) who composed the 'Sale of the Century' theme music used the pub. There would be an advert in the local paper which read: "Let's have a party with Arty" This was to advertise Art Lyne (a local organist) who provided live entertainment. On Race Days (the pub was close to the Great Yarmouth Race Course) the pub would be packed and the pub laid on a buffet for the customers.
