The Halfway House was situated at 10
High Road. This pub was built in 1882 following the demolition of
The Guardian Angel at a cost
of £900, by brewers Steward & Patteson and its first landlord was Harry
Forsdick. Its name came from the fact that it was situated midway between
the tram terminal in Gorleston and the one at Haven Bridge. The Halfway
House was refronted in 1938, closed in 1968 and was subsequently demolished
to allow for road widening. |
