The Star Hotel was situated at 24 Hall Quay. The Grade II Listed building with its Nelson Bar was refurbished in 2017.  It was originally in adjacent premises, moving in 1930.  The original Star was demolished a few years later.  The replacement closed in 2020.

Now boarded up but I was my brother's best man there in 1973.It was the day of the England v Scotland game and the women were furious when instead of dancing with them all the blokes wandered off to watch the match on the telly in the lounge.
