Date of photo: c1903

The Upper Ferry Inn was situated at 50 South Quay, on the S.W. corner of Row 136. This 17th century pub was originally known as The Three Herrings Tavern until c1900. The building was requisitioned by the War Department in 1942 and suffered damage by enemy action. It was demolished in post-war redevelopment and council flats/maisonettes were built on the site which are still standing.
