The Old Crome was situated on st Augustines Street. This pub was previously known as The Rose and was renamed after the local artist, John Crome. This pub closed in the 1980s.

Del Styan 1970s  I used to live in the nearby Leonards Street, and used it a lot. The landlord Peter and his wife Joan moved to the Crown in Goldwell Street. and I followed them , drinking there for many happy years. It struggled after HMSO was privatised, and closed shortly after.
