The Ostrich was situated at Dodman End.
This pub was an ex-meeting place of the Norfolk branch of the
Far East Prisoner Of War Association. It closed in 2001. |

I lived at the Ostrich Inn from
1963 to 1974 with my parents who were landlord and landlady there - Charlie
and Myrtle Hawes. They took over the pub in 1963 just after a major refit by
Tolly Cobbold.
One story we were told that the place was haunted by a grey lady but my dad,
being a sceptic, said the only spirits in there were on the shelves! I live
in South wales now but was in Norfolk last week with my mum and we noticed
that renovations are being carried out at the Ostrich. |
