Horse Shoe

The Horse Shoe was in a building which dated from 1583. It didn't become a pub until about 1870. It served its last pint in 1942 when the village, along with five others, was requisitioned by the War Office and is now part of the army's Stanford Training Area. The building was destroyed by fire in 1986 so if the army ever gives the village back it still won't be serving any more pints.
