The Fox & Hounds is now in residential use, as a
house called Fox Holes. |
|
My family the Harpers ran it from early
1800's to around 1860.Sadly i didn't do the family history until it had
become residential as believe much of the interior beams etc were untouched.
Lot of stories about it from old articles in the 1800's.From Bacon being
stolen to hobbled slightly small pint glasses being used , an illegal raffle
for a horse and many other funny tales of the time.It was also the main
meeting place for councils, associations and even magistrates cases.Lot of
fox hunts and pigeon shooting arranged out of there too.
Later members of my family ran the Admiral Rodney that was in the drapery in
Northampton about 1910. |

1st visited pub in 1992 when it was
run by 2 elderly ladies. Very quiet and little atmosphere. Returned a
few years later to find it transformed. 1st and only time I've been
greeted with a handshake by the owner on entering the pub. His name
began with a D (Declan/Dermot) and his wife was called Jo whose birthday
is on the 25th of January 'cause we gave her a book of Rabbie Burns
poems as a gift. |
