The Viking in Longbenton closed late in 2009. I've not been able to find out any more info, but as of late Dec 2009 the site was enclosed by temporary fencing, suggesting to me that it's probably due for demolition fairly soon in the New Year. I think the Viking was probably a victim of the 'gentrification' which has occurred in Longbenton over the past 10 years.
