The Waterloo was situated on Bath Lane. |

While researching my family tree,
I discovered that the gable end of this pub (probably a previous building on
the same site) was occasionally home to a gallows. One William Winter and
his two accomplices were hanged there in 1792. |

My brother in law drank in the
waterloo with some of his rough friends, and I also drank there with
them when I was in my teen in the 1960s |
