The Avenue was situated at 11 Park Avenue. This pub closed in the early 2000's, although unfortunately I don't remember the exact date. The site is within the Whitley Bay regeneration area and the building has since had a coat of paint at the insistence of North Tyneside Council - that appears to be the extent of the maintenance and it remains derelict at the time of writing. The local community is very strongly calling for demolition and it is unlikely to be reopened. As an occasional visitor in the late 90's, I seem to remember it was my cue to leave when the Saturday night karaoke sessions became a little too enthusiastic.
